In-Person Orientation
Fall 2025. Orientation sessions for new students will be offered in August. Registration for Discover sessions is NOW OPEN. Five sessions are available. Click the link to select a session. You will need your My麻豆影院 login credentials to complete the registration process.
Parents/Supporters are welcome to attend. Orientation includes:
- A session with your Program Advisor
- Using the My麻豆影院 system (coursework, email, enrollment, etc.)
- Academic Support (tutoring, resources, tips for success)
- Connecting with resources (Career Center, Health Professions, Disability Services, Student Life, and more)
- Virginia Western T-shirt
- Optional campus resource tour
A Virtual Discover Orientation is available for students who were unable to attend one of our in-person sessions.
Tech Tools for Adult Learners
Adult learners, we’re here to help you start on the right track. To learn more about Virginia Western’s technology systems, you can register for Tech Tools 101. In these one-hour sessions, you’ll practice logging in to My麻豆影院, SIS (Student Information System), Canvas, Navigate, and more. Sessions are available on:
- Sessions for fall 2025 are now open for registration. Sessions are available August 7th, August 13th, and August 19th. Click the registration button for more details.

Bring a copy of your schedule to the 3rd floor of the Student Life Center (Building S on the campus map) and Student Ambassadors can walk you to each class! Virginia Western swag and snacks available!
Virtual Discover Orientation
A virtual orientation program is now available!
The Virtual Discover Orientation is accessible through Canvas. To access it and self-enroll, follow these directions:
- Click to access the course.
- Log in to My麻豆影院 with your credentials.
- Click the Enroll In Course button.

Additional Tips
Here are some additional tips for a smooth start to the school year:
- Login to My麻豆影院 and check your Student Center for any remaining Info, Actions & Holds or To Do list items.
- Check your Virginia Western Email. Once you are enrolled in courses, you will have access to your student email account. You should check your campus email daily.
- Review the Academic Calendar.
- View/print Your Class Schedule in SIS.
- The list view of the schedule will include a link to view the textbooks you will need.
- The weekly calendar view will show a weekly view of your classes.
- Visit Campus and find your classes before the first day.
- Student IDs can be obtained once classes begin.

Student Ambassador Team
Student Ambassadors give campus tours, staff community & college events, and assist with new student events and orientation sessions. Ambassadors receive a $1,000 scholarship for serving fall and spring semesters ($500 per semester) and are paid hourly for working at summer welcome events. In addition to the scholarship, you’ll be developing leadership skills, building your resume, and getting the chance to meet other student leaders, faculty, and staff. The application for the 2025-2026 Student Ambassador Team is now closed. Recruitment for the next year will begin in March 2026.
